A Free Family Event at Houston's Trailhead Park
This fun family event was started by the Root River Trail Towns organization as a way to celebrate the Root River Bike Trail by featuring the small river valley towns it connects. On Saturday, September 23 we celebrate the towns of Houston and Rushford.

As part of the Taste of the Trail celebration, the Houston Public Library will be hosting a very special mobile storytime where you will
explore the nature center grounds as you walk from one page of
the book to the next - reading as you go!
Live Music from The Ilika Ward Duo 12:30pm-2:30pm
Local musicians, Jake Ilika and Joel Ward will be this year's Taste of the Trail
musical entertainement. Playing a variety
of originals and covers, these two talented musicians have a tune for everyone! They are a great addition to any outdoor get-together. Come on down and enjoy the show!
Lunch Fundraiser: Chicken-Q and Beer (or root beer)
The Houston Area Chamber will be hosting a Chicken-Q lunch and the Houston Legion will be sponsoring the beverages, beer & root beer options available. All proceeds to support the Houston Area Chamber's continued work in 2018.

A series of pictoral mile markers will
decorate the Root River Trail between
the towns of Houston and Rushford. Stop
along your ride and learn a bit about the
steamboats, the railway, and the early
settlers. Experience a bit of the
historical significance of our beautiful
Cushon’s Peak Campground will
offer a FREE shuttle for bicyclists
who prefer a one-way trip.
